They being scientists ...
It was the egg.
Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.
Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.

Well, if you're a Christian and you believe in the miracle of creation, I believe the chicken came first. Genesis says that God created all the beast of the land and all the creatures of the sea and air. It doesn't say he created the eggs that held the creatures of the sea and air or beasts of the earth. That's one of those questions that may actually never be answered. The real question is who was the first person who looked at a chicken and said I'll eat what pops out of it's butt. LOL.

If you are catholic then the egg because the fish was made before the chicken and fish lay eggs and some people think one god day is like 1000 years but if your not then I think the chicken might of cam first.

this thinking substance thought about all things coming into being with the seed in itself.
So both came at the same time, the chicken with the egg in it.

thats easy its the chiken coz... if it was an egg then it would grow into a chiken but if the chiken came first then it could have been fertilised already but if ur not talking about biblicle terms the egg because the dinosaurs layed eggs hundreds of milion years before the first mammals even egsisted

I personally think the chicken came first. God created animals....so the chicken would've been created first. That's my theory.
