Don't you think they are wholey inadequate and pointless? Would it not be best to get us into the local police station for 5 mins and run our finger prints through their computer? Surely that's the only way they will find any real criminals who want to work with young people/ vulnerable adults?
I wouldn't object.

I'm currently waiting for mine to start work. I have a friend who lost her job as her CRB took so long to come throught they dropped her. It's so frustrating, and yet anyone could give a false name/ address and the police would not pick up on what crime you have commited- it seems to work on trust alone.

CRB checks are annoying as they take ages to come back and they only show the convictions that you have for the UK so if you were from abroad had had committed a crime it wouldnt show up on your CRB which defeats the point of having a CRB done anyway.

I think if the police station did it it would still take the same amount of time, and it would still take ages for people who didn't have their fingerprints on the police database and for people that were from abroad.

In a way it would be easier, but that would only inform prospective employers about crimes that you have been convicted of. Their other agencies that contribute towards the crb, and they would not be included in a police record check.

Not enough manpower..

No discretion left at local level...
