yes, anything in dual channel is better.....also memory modules to run in dual channel have to be the same brand and models, to run the memoty in the dual channel mode must be pluged in 2 slots of SAME color...so 2 blue or 2 black...and....would you have 3gb of dual channel memory...try i think yes....wont burn enything...the worst that can hapend is you would have 3gb of memory..but not runing in dual channel...

No,the dual channel means same and exactly brand memory what you plug in to your memory slot.
by the way the windows xp 32 bit can only handle max 2Gb of RAM.but if you use win xp 64 bit you can put how big are the RAM are.so...your processor and your hardware doesn't support for windows xp 64 bit.
I think with 512 Mb of RAM and a good graphic card are enough to play a Counter Strike and other heavy games.example your video card with ATI chipset RX9600XT 128Mb or RX 9800XT 256Mb

depending on the speed of the ram, latencies etc...it CAN be better to have just the 2gb. If you put 2 matched 512's into the black slots it will still run in dual channel

question is convoluted - ram belongs in slots starting with largest in slot 0 next in slot 1 next in slot 2 etc.
If you reboot and hold the control key the bios will tell you which slots are in use. Slots work best if in sequence.
