I don't care who really wins in an argument, just as long as I get to say what I feel or think. Arguments are a good and healthy way of communicating in a relationship. You get to speak your mind, vent, and if things get really heated and out of hand, there's always the make up sex afterwards...

Nobody wins an argument. When two people are shouting at each other, no one is listening. Arguments are born out of pride and pride is the one thing that most people are unwilling to surrender. When the air is thick with pride, love cannot get through. Arguing is never healthy for any relationship. especially marriage. Agreeing to disagree is a double loss because it is agreed among the parties that nothing is to be resolved permanently. An alternative to arguing is to agree in advance that all discussions of disagreements are to be peaceful and that all issues are to be resolved to the point that all parties concerned are in complete agreement concerning the solution. this is not easy, but it is biblical and the only way to avoid a knocked-down, dragged-out fight. My advice for anybody about to get married is to meet with your fiancee and come to an agreement that you and he/she will always agree on everything, that there will be no standing disagreements in your marriage. This will take a lot of give and take on both sides, but if the two of you are to be joined as one, it is the only way that you will be assured of staying out of divorce court.

It really depends. I think having a argument that actually ends in a resolution can be a good thing. But arguments that only escalate to more arguing and any type of verbal or physical abuse, of course that is not healthy or helpful in anyway. In my relationship of 2 yrs, at first it was a little difficult. Both of us are stubborn and we both like to be right. lol. But now we have learned how to compromise and sometime we do agree to disagree. Typically, our arguments end with both of us having a better understanding of the others viewpoint, even if we still dont necessarily agree.

Having an argument now and then between your spouse/partner is a great thing. As long as you can argue in a smart way (don't say anything insulting or that you would regret) it can help keep your relationship new. You are able to get your frustrations out, let your partner know what is on your mind and perhaps the situation can be fixed.
Keeping your anger about your spouse pent up in you is unhealthy and causes much stress and health issues.

Depends on how you handle them. On the whole, I think they are a good thing. But some people don't fight fair or don't have any desire to come to a resolution or compromise.
I think they help in a relationship because they can be therapeutic. But if they get out of had (screaming, throwing things), it's not healthy.
To me, arguing isn't about winning. :)
(I teach college students how to compose arguments in writing, and I teach them the big different between emotional arguments and rational arguments. I tell them that if they can separate their emotion from the argument, they can have constructive and healthy arguments with anyone!)

Having a time to time argument is a healthy thing. This means both of you guys are open to say what you really feall and not just hide it which ruins a relationship silently.
Th most important thing on a n argument is being able to end up compromising each other.

Arguments can be a good thing. They tend to clear the air. In any healthy relationship there has to be some disagreement. But there also has to be give-and-take, and compromise to go along with it. As long as the arguments lead to that compromise they are good.

Arguments are bad if they:
1. end up in a fight/violence (over-emotional)
2. end up in a divorce
3. if when each of the argumentators are screaming at each other, and at the top of their lungs, unwilling to hear what the other party has to say
4. if when a party realizes that it is wrong, but still won't admit it
5. if when a party knows it is the winning side but shows no sportsmanship or understanding for the other party's point of view
6. and worse, if the winning party intentionally humiliates the losing party further

I think it would have to be both. A person's true feelings tend to come out when they are in an argument, but if an argument starts to demean the other person as being inferior, when they really are not then it can become mad. Conflicts lead to resolutions when it is done properly
