They seem to be on the fence... Not surprising, I mean their main agenda is scottish independence, which isn't exactly in itself a pro-gay or anti-gay sentiment. So you're bound to get all types in an independence party. SNP does have an LGBT committee.

So they took a large donation from an LGBT foe who supports scots independence. Well after all that is their purpose, to push for scots independence. Seems to me that shouldn't be a big deal. Unless the SNP then starts voting anti-gay, what harm is taking his half a million pounds to support the independence movement?

"Souter yesterday said Scotland had a right to self-determination: "As long as I can remember, the case for the union has been hugely financed by cash from London, while the case for independence has lacked resources. I hope my donation will help redress this imbalance."

"Tim Hopkins of the Equality Network said: "I worry that the SNP have decided they can get more votes from homophobes than from the gay community. What is Brian Souter expecting for his half a million? People will rightly be asking if the SNP still supports equality."

Seems to me that the SNP primarily supports Scottish independence and that does not have a lot to do with being pro-gay or anti-gay. In fact it shows what a strong unifying issue it can be when you have both pro-gay and anti-gay supporting it. What does Souter expect from his half a million? I suppose he expects to see greater Scottish autonomy, because that's what the SNP is all about.

They accepted a huge donation from notorious homophobe Brian Souter, so I suppose they aren't very interested in equal rights.
