I normally reside up north but have been living in Florida for a few months for work. I live in the third story of a building and my screened porch always has lizards on it. (I know they are harmless and get rid of bugs but they give me the creeps). I have asked my neighbors and no one else seems to have this problem.

Are we unwittingly attracting them in some way? I have sprayed the porch with bug spray to try to get rid of their food. I also have two cats but, like bugs, they just point things out and won't kill anything. Is there anything we can do to discourage them from staying here (or encourage them to go downstairs instead)??

Birds eat lizards. Try and buy a fake owl or bird that moves in the breeze to scare them off.

Leave em alone. They are to Florida what squirrels are to northerners. They're just there. Spraying bug spray is probably poisoning everything else too. You'll get used to em. Why do you have to kill/poison/eliminate them just because you aren't used to them?

If you have a screened porch, and there are lights, that's probably attracting insects for them to eat. They always seem to hang out near the porch lights at my GF's parents house.Try a non-poisonous method of eliminating the bugs, or one of those ultrasonic repellents. But lay off the poisons and the stomping. How'd you like it if someone decided that you freaked THEM out and retaliated similarly?

Try mothballs they work really well. these things will detour almost anything.you can put them in a corner of your porch and no more lizards. we use them outside, they also keep the spiders and snakes away. but please make sure you wrap them in something since you will be using them on your porch. keep away from pets and children.
