I need some suggestions.
I have slept in for my 8.30 shift, I woke up at 1pm which meant I missed the entire shift,
I answered my phone messages which is one of my managers askibg if I was ok and wanting to know hy I dodnt come in or phone in sick and could I give them a curtosy call back. I have ,missed shifts like this before and I will need a decent excuse or I will get fired.
I work in retail and dont know what to ntell them. I slep in is not going top go down well. I will be in for my next shift on sunday so I need a decent excues that will cover me for today until sunday and will have kept me from phoning in this morning.
(the real reason is because I have insomnia nd havent slept more than 4 hours for the last week and a half, but I know my work wont accept this as a reason and if they worry about me turning up again they may give my shift to some one else and I may end up doing a shift where the work is later on in the day and far more boaring.)

Tell them you got little sleep last night because you were up sick most of the night, and you meant to call them but went back to sleep and woke recently to find the message.

omg! so weird but i until three hours ago was in the same situation lol!
i recetnly got my new job but i have insomnia! so for the last 3 weeks ive had to take days off cause my bodys exausted from the lack of sleep! anyway i took tueday off but i was to scared to call in so i never then i was of wed then yesterday and i still hadnt called!
then i called my boss thursday night to tell her why i hadnt been in! i was going to make up that my mum was ill blah blah blah! ...but then she told me that she had sent a letter out ealrier that day terminating my contract! i was gutted i excepted it, straight off the call i burst in to tears... ive just got a new flat only own a microwave tv and bed so i need the money!
i told my bf who called my boss and she agreed to meet me the next day! so today i went to see her!
she asked for the truth ...i gave it to her!
i explained i have serious insomnia ive had it for 3-4 years on and off depeneding on my stress level! and i get so stressed i even stress over a fone call to my work!
she was very strickt but fantastic!
she said its not on but its ok! she gave me my job back and has warned me one more time and im fired... I WILL NEVER MAKE THAT MISTAKE EVER AGAIN!
im going to the docs about it monday!
i advice you call your work and arrange a meeting with your boss (privately) explain the situation together! it will only get worse if you lie or ignore it! as if it does happen again you wont be telling lie after lie till youve said all your family is dead and your dog ate your carpets your boilers broke your sick... you thought aliens stole your body... blah blah!
the truth and only the truth will help you get past this! they cant help you unless you help yourself!
i wish you all the luck! i would love it if you could let me know what happens as i really know exactly how you are feeling honey!
good luck, hope your ok! try get some sleep lol! :)

Well.... i would say that you collapsed this morning, your mother came ropund and you were taken to hospital for a check over, you could not use your phone to call them as your not allowed phones in hospitals and just say that your mum is useless with mobile and could not call your works opn your behalf! Say your ok to make the Sunday shift but if not you will call otherwise.
I'd get two alarm clocks just in case it happens again!
Good luck!!!

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress,
dietary and medical problems. By making
small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly,
insomnia can be cured. I found the information at

Just tell them, "there is a perfectly good reason why I did not come in to work today. Because, I decided that eight hours of joyless, mind-numbing crap just did not sound like much fun."
On serious note just tell them the truth and tell them you'll do an extra shift to cover up or reach a comprimise.

You need to make the excuse quite serious and also a little embarrasing so they wont feel the need to grill you. The more bizarre the better.
1, Bleeding Piles.
2, Aids test, your mum/ girlfriend was supposed to phone in for you.
Anything such as this will save your job and your skin.

I would tell them you were up all night unwell and went back to sleep!
Then look around for another job that is more interesting and go and see your doctor about the insomnia!
Good luck - update yahoo with the outcome!

Lie's always come out. I would tell them the truth. Talk to your doctor and get help. You will find if you are open and honest with people and treat them with respect they will normally return the favor. Good luck

Suck it up, tell them the truth. Then when they DO fire you (as it is deserved) see a doctor about your insomnia. Be responsible and act like an adult.
