Why aren't you able to pump your own gas?

Good Question: We pay extra to have people do it for us(believe it or not). I remember when we had sky high prices, the state wanted to eliminate gas attendants and have us do it outselves to lower prices. Other than that, its because of the demographics of our state. Money talks and many areas of this state are doing alot of talking.

It is a law that has been on the books forever. Aparently it was from back in the day when there were actually some risks involved in pumping your own gas so they outlawed self service. Now it's become it's own little economy here and people are reticant to change it because all of those people would lose thier jobs. Aparently there was a study done and it would not save us any money anyway so we just keep it like it is.
EDIT:
Pedro.. we have the highest average salary in the entire country.. We must be doing something right.
