With my beloved Seattle...wet cement (smells great when it's been dry for a few days), Pike Place Market is an oasis of smells from seafood to cheeses to foods from all over the world, coffee beans roasting, the Waterfront restaurants in the summer with waffle cones being prepared and tons of fresh seafood, Safeco field-hot dogs, GARLIC fries, stale beer...our Emerald City has it all!

Seafood and sushi are good in Seattle. Their Ivar's is a lot like a seafood Burger King. They also have ethnic cuisine like Thai food and Mexican food. Don't spend too much on regular coffee, get a really good coffee with all the extras for the money. Take the ferries, they are great. The ferries to Whidbey Island often give a view of eagles and whales. The ferry to Bremerton gives a very nice view of Rich Passage and lovely waterfront homes, and you can take your car with you on most ferries.
The WestLake Shopping Center in downtown Seattle is very nice, There is a balcony on the third floor overlooking the city for lunch, and close to other tourist attractions. The Pike Street Market is interesting, although you may want to move on. They have a Chinatown, and it has some very nice things to offer. Their tea is incredible.
Mr. William Henry Gates III and his family live there, he is the richest man in the world, and this is an attraction.(would love to be rich like him, thank you)

My goodness. Perfect question for me. I grew up in Seattle, and the thing I miss most (been gone for 16 years now) is the food.
Okay...let's see.
Dick's cheeseburgers.
GOOD Chinese food...I really crave a family style Chinese feast from Palace of China, House of Hong or 7 Seas, consisting of BBQ Pork, Egg Rolls, Fried Shrimp, Fried Rice, Chow Mein, Almond Fried Chicken, Egg Drop Soup and Fortune Cookie. Chinese food in the Midwest sucks.
Ivars..yummy. Skippers, too (although not as good)
Northlake Tavern pizza
Burgers at Red Robin, although they have those here in Kansas now.
That's about it for now. I'm sure there are more, but I just ate, so it's hard to imagine food in some clarity.

Rain on the pavement on a hot summer day. The salty sea air. All the foods at Pike Place Market and the Piers... All my favorite smells of the Seattle area.
