Edit, so it is just prejudice, you have no proof it is faked. Or are you omnipotent? Because Tonkin was faked does not mean this is, that is a great jump of, well something, logic has nothing to do with it. Of course, you conveniently forget the Iraqi fishermen who saw and reported the incident. Or are they deep plant CIA operatives.

Yeah doing research in FULL measures and in an ON-going manner usually reduces idiocy in conclusions. The facts are before us in that region. Not ALL muslims are insane assholes. But, when I see it on the news about marches in Britain stating THAT country will be the first european country the future new Islamic Empire takes over ... I really do not give a damn about anything except to chop off the "head" of that dragon!

I am a US veteran of the vietnam era. But .. I do not liken the Tonkin Gulf resolution to this conflict. And ... I do NOT think the world will soon end! The furthest I'd go with it is: things are gonna change. Welcome to planet Earth.

Should we fight if necessary in Iran? YES!!! Do "we" want to? NO!! I follow the news lines about military movements in that world region. I was in Army Intelligence, and they trained us well. I know what to look for. Will we/UK send in large numbers of troops? NO! Air and sea power? Kick ***! NOT good for Iran to provoke this potential response. Oil access is bullshit. We are well able to survive without their freakin oil.

NEXT!

Well, something is afoot....because Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad abruptly canceled his planned trip to New York to address the U.N. Security Council. The U.N. voted to expand sanctions against Iran and gave Iran 60 more days to quit enrichment of uranium.

A strike group led by the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis recently joined a similar force in the Persian Gulf led by the carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. Furthermore, the French nuclear carrier Charles de Gaulle and its task force met up with the USS John C. Stennis last Wednesday.

U.S. and British officials said a boarding party from the frigate HMS Cornwall was seized about during a routine inspection of a merchant ship inside Iraqi territorial waters near the disputed Shatt al-Arab waterway.

The seizure of two Royal Navy inflatable boats took place just outside the mouth of the Shatt al-Arab waterway, a 125-mile channel dividing Iraq from Iran. Its name means Arab Coastline in Arabic, and Iranians call it Arvandrud - Persian for Arvand River. A 1975 treaty recognized the middle of the waterway as the border.

Iranians send arms to Iraqi extremists, including sophisticated roadside bombs. This week, two commanders of an Iraqi Shiite militia told The Associated Press in Baghdad that hundreds of Iraqi Shiites had crossed into Iran for training by the elite Quds force, a branch of Iran's Revolutionary Guard thought to have trained Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon.

CJ?..CJ?...What planet are you residing on? You definitely need a "reality check"!. What makes you possibly think that this "civil war" is an absolute "fake"? I can't understand why you would feel that since 2004 when we deployed our troops into this area and now have lost over 3,000.00 men and women since we entered this war, that it's fake? What? the reason behind this war or the fighting in general? The reason may not be all that in truth, of course the Government isn't going to tell us Americans everything on why or the strategic behind it but I can tell you that this war is "VERY REAL"! Iran now is pushing Britains and the US's buttons not too mention the UN. Since Iran doesn't give a "rats behind" on the new rules that was submitted by the UN on their nuclear program I see problems rising very fast to where if something isn't going to be negotiated quickly then I see a war forth coming with Iran. It's funny how Iran captured these 15 British soldiers right after the UN made their new rules. Too coincidental. But my opinion is that if it hadn't been the British being captured, it would have been someone else. Iranians are nit picking with the British and the Us to where it's going to esculate into something worse. This isn't FAKE but Very Real! I don't know where you are getting your info that this is fake, but it's so ridiculous that I don't care. I realize you have your own opinions about this issue but you need to get your Facts straight. Ignorance is Bliss but this idea of yours is dumb founded! Try to have a great day!

Well isn't this how the Lebanon war started? The reason was the "kidnapping" of two soldiers...just to see now that this war with Lebanon was actually planned 4 months before the soldiers were taken into custody by Hezbollah...So starting a fake war with Iran wouldn't be surprising...
Anyway let's wait Iran's reaction to the incident and see what is going to happen next...let's hope not an attack on Iran...

I just saw this on the news today and that was the first thing I thought. Not the Gulf of Tonkin, I'm not that quick, but I thought to myself "there it is, just what ol' W needs to get the Iran thing going".

Don't get me started....................this is not VietNam......this is a totally different issue completely.and for those of us who enjoy our freedom of speech......I think some need to do a little more research before speaking...granted mistakes have benn made.let me see your perfection ......but our troops need and deserve our support and they are making a difference no matter how this war started..........when was the last time your girlfreind or wife or sister or daughter was dragged through the steets tied to the back off a vehicle because she walked outside alone without a male escort.....when was the last time you saw an American citizen get his tongue cut off because he said something the government didn't like.....when was the last time you saw someone beheaded because he stood up for what he beleived in.in this Great United States of America...not lately? I didn't think so..

The men and women of our military are good and honest. they have given up thier freedoms..to come and go as they please.....to be with their families everyday.....to do any of the stuff we as civilians may do when and where we choose.......WHY???? because they love this country and they love their families and freinds and they are strong, moralistic, purpose driven individuals.........who give you and me the ability to go on in our daily lives with less fear.........and I will stand up for each and everyone of them......no matter what......go to the web and do some serious research...widen your knowledge and see for yourself....yes war stinks..but how do you think you received the freedom you have to this day.........my grandfather...my father....my brother.my husband and now my daughter have ALL served to honor you and me with that right.............God Bless All OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN and MAY God bring them home safely..........by the way tell Rosie hi.

It is impossible for someone to fake or calculate responses from Iran such as saying they will release a prisoner and then not release a prisoner because another country "behaved wrong".
Clearly Iran was waiting for this opportunity to manipulate their position in the world. They have every opportunity to keep this situation from escalating.
Congress will make the necessary action based on what Iran does further to either make a mess of this situation or stabilize it.

Fake war? The war is real, the causes were fake. I looks very much as if Bush intends to start another war. Possibly by the end of April.
