My niece was doing this when she was around 14. Pressures of school, unstability at home an older guy and unreliable friends threw her into this. I just happened to see it when she was with me. I pulled the car over walked around to her side and pulled her out and just held her. I never did understand how this physical act "soothed" what was going on inside. But I understood the pain that can drive you to hurt yourself physically. She never told her mom (my sister) and she went thru alot of emotional problems for 3 yrs that could have been helped if she would have talked to her. I never told my sister exactly what she was doing, but I did tell her something was wrong and she needed to pay close attention to my niece. Well they butted heads and became distant and strained their relationship. My niece is 20 now and thier relationship is livable and they love eachother but my niece is more like a daughter to me, we are really close. I told her I loved her and would always be there for her if she needed me. I was then and am now. Now she is engaged and doing really well. So even if you can't tell your parents tell someone you feel you can trust. You need some guidance and lots of love until you come to terms with what ever is going on in your life. The main thing to remember is..when the chaos you feel on the inside becomes physically visible on the outside like this , you need help. Be it counseling or family. My niece suffered silently for 3 yrs and it doesn't have to be that way for you. I hope you find a peace with whatever is going on...you are special and valuable to someone in your life and they love you..so please talk to someone.

You should find the time when both of them are present and have a talk with them. Don't hold anything back. Just open up and let them know what you're doing and how you feel. Parents are supposed to be understanding and if they get upset, don't worry. They won't be upset with you persay, they're probably going to be upset because they will probably feel guilty for not knowing any sooner and helping you. Just do it; it'll hurt the both of you guys even more if they find out even later.

I agree with the other girl, just go and show them. Now, I'm a mom of 5 and she might freak for a minute and cry but she'll get you help. Go to them now, and good luck with this.

Just go up to them and tell them you need help. Show them where you cut yourself. It will be hard, and they won't understand, but you can still get help before it is too late. Just try not to do it again, ok? =]
