the great pele has already stated georgie was the best. if you think maradonas goal against england [the 2nd one] was good then check out the one george scored in america. he not only beat 5 or 6 in side the 18 yard box he screwed them into the ground. by the way these defenders where mostly ex 1st & 2nd division players & no slouches at the game. if you ever get the chance to get hold of a video of george you will then realise why soccer will never see a better player

One of the Best. Along with Pele, Maradonna, Jimmy Johnstone.

He was before my time so I can't really comment. However, both my parents said he was a fantastic footballer and believe me if they praise a Man Utd plater then he must have been good cos they've never praised any other Man Utd player.

In my opinion, equal third with Johann Cryuff, after Maradonna
and of course the indisputable no 1:-

EDSON ORANTES DO NASCIMENTO...PELE !!!!!!!!!

Pele was being modest when he claimed Best was the 'best'
he knew that wasn't true, so did everyone else.

In terms of the UK, he was, - possibly, - one of THE best players, of the game, that there, ever WAS! He was CERTAINLY, in the "GENIUS" mould, - but, the "BEST, EVER"?

I DOUBT IT, someow, - though, I'm CERTAIN, that OTHERS, (mainly Manchester United, Fulham and Northern Ireland fans), who will, - I am SURE, - DISAGREE, with me!

Remember, though, the likes of Germany's "BECKENBAUER", - and, - of COURSE, - BRAZIL'S very OWN superstar, - the legendary "PELE", - were playing the game, at around the same time, - and, it puts the question into some sort of "CONTEXT"!

I don't think so.

Pele - He is universally accepted as the greatest ever.
Maradona - I HATE this guy (hand of God fame), but he's great.
Ronaldinho - Best in the game today.
Georgie
Ronaldo

No - (a) because he never realised his full potential (for which he was responsible) and (b) he never played at the highest international level to be tested in that way (over which he clearly had no control).

Sexiest ? Perhaps. Most interesting ? Perhaps. Most ulogised ? Almost certainly. But no, not the best.
