Did a glucose test yesterday. Fasting was slightly raised, 1 hour was 206 but then 2 hour was 129.
After I eat I am feeling very ill within that first hour or so.
Can the doctor give me some insulin or will it not work as I seem to produce enough after 1 hour.
I am baffled.
28 weeks pregnant.

They will try to control it with diet first. If that doesn't work then they will try pills. If that doesn't work then they will go to insulin. They will have to see how it works at first. It will take a couple of weeks to figure out. Good luck

I think your question is referring to how you are feeling after having the glucose tolerance test. If this is something you have begun to experience just since the test, then it is likely your body is reacting to the glucose solution you had to drink. That ill feeling should begin to subside as it leaves your body. Eat small meals more often with a good balance of carbohydrates, protein, and non-starchy vegetables. Consistent carbohydrate intake is a main goal in managing a diabetic condition. Drink water to help flush the glucose solution out of your system. If you are not feeling any better after the weekend is over or you begin to feel worse, give your doctor a call. You will not likely need any insulin unless you are unable to adequately control your glucose level with the diet given to you by a dietitian. I had Gestational Diabetes 10 years ago with the pregnancy of my 4th child. I have recently been diagnosed with glucose intolerance, also known as pre-diabetes, which is not uncommon in women who have had Gestational Diabetes. I am working with a Diabetes Educator and a dietitian to develop a diet and exercise plan.

When I was diagnosed, I went and saw a nutritionist because there are foods you need to stay away from for now. Most GD cases are handled through diet only. Your Doctor would have told you if you needed insulin.
