I just need some ideas so that I could be well prepared in college. What's the workload? and what is the difference in college life and hs life. Detailed answers would really be helpful.

Read I AM CHARLOTTE SIMMONS by Tom Wolfe before you go off to college. It might help you be better prepared, and it's a really good book.

The difference between high school and college...
High school students can get away with taking 7-8 classes at a time. You will find that you can only take 4 classes at a time in college. However, over a year you will end up having the same 7-8 classes. The workload is enormous. High school students don't have to study (not really). College students need to study at least 3-4 hours daily to make sure they are getting all of the information (this is also dependent on your major). Classes are different in that HS you have to take what is prescribed to you; college gives you the freedom of deciding on what you are going to take by determining your interests (i mean picking your major so you like the material better therefore learn better). If you have to work, I suggest you get a nice job in the campus library on a work-study thing. You wouldn't make that much money, but it's less stressful than retail.
You are held accountable in college for your grades. In HS you could always whine to your teachers and batt your eyes to get a better grade. That is NOT going to happen for you in college. You actually have to learn the material.
As far as culture and partying goes, I would say each campus is different on this subject. You HAVE to be sure to balance the amount of partying you do when you are in college. Remember, you will be on your own and you are now accountable for your actions. If you party too much and fail too many tests, they will kick you out. You have to aim yourself towards what you want. If graduating is something that you really want bad enough, it is within your grasp. You just have to keep reminding yourself not to stray.
Good Luck!

FUN! And a bit stressful. First, your gonna love it. It's a time for you "grow up" and began to become a adult. I know, that sucks, who wants to be a adult right? But it's different. Your responsible for your happiness now. Your in charge and it feels good. First, get involved, it will help you build friendships that will last all your life. There will be 10X's as many groups and clubs to join as HS. Everything from soroities to the chess club. Thats the best advice I can give you. And noone judges you like in HS. Everybody is busy doing there own thing...focused on starting a real life and getting ready for a career. There are no "popular" peeps anymore. You will not see everyone everyday like you do now. You will have class only maybe a few hours a day and the rest is up to you. The people I now call my best friends for life I meet in college. But don't lose focus on why your there...a degree. Have fun cuz it goes so so fast.

1. You have freedom to attend class or not but their can be consequences. You can only miss 2 or three days in class.
classes usually last 1 hr and 45 minutes.
2. you can attend school 3 days a week or 2 and take a class on saturday.
3. noone makes you go to school but if you dont that would be stupid right?
4. You will type papers until you graduate (you will type 3 page papers all the way up to 25 pages). You type 15 to 25 pages in your junior and senior. Junior and Senior year can be intense because you want to have a good GPA. It all depends on your major.
In the beginning college is fun and at the end its serious because you are trying to break free from jail. LOL
But you feel so good when you graduate. I have 2 degrees.
HAve fun

Honestly, there is no way of knowing it really depends on the college and major. In general, you should expect more work than you had in high school and the profs will hold you to a higher standard (sometimes). You really should contact the college you are going to attend. Most colleges have students that you can speak with and sometimes visit with before you decide to go to any particular college. Often times they will even match you up with someone in the major you are considering.

i had a lot of fun in college. sometimes i had way too much fun and didn't do my school work which pretty much ****** me up. college is an awesome experience you just have to watch yourself and make sure that you make time for your studies because it is so easy to just take off with your friends and waste time.
