We might be moving to Katy, Texas and I need to know what the area is like. I am from Fort Worth and people are so nice here. What are the people like? Are there great schools for preschool age children? Places to shop? Etc.
Thanks!

People here are pretty laid back and nice. There are alot of families and a ton of kids in the area. There are some great schools for preschool. My niece goes to Children's Lighthouse. They are learning to read, write, count, and even have dance classes.
I have my boys in a Mother's Day Out that is just WONDERFUL!) (Westfield Freewill Baptist Promiseland Program) There is no shortage of childcare/preschool options in the area.
There are plenty of places to shop. I would have to say that "the place" to shop is Katy Mills Mall. Many of the stores are "outlets" so the discounts are quite amazing!! There is also Memorial City Mall and for more "high end" shopping, there is the Galleria, but that is more "midtown".
Here is a great link that should help you find out any information about the area. http://www.katytexas.com/ and http://www.katyisd.org if you would like your children to go to Katy schools.
For real estate information, your best be will be http://www.har.com
Many of the houses have virtual tours and have tons or pictures. You can make your search as general or as specific as you like.

Living In Katy Texas

There are many parts of Katy, so I can ony give you my opinion on the part I am living in right now. I live in one of the master planned communities south of I-10 called Seven Meadows. It is bordered by many excellent communities like Cinco Ranch, Grand Lakes, Falcon Ranch etc. The schools zoned to these communities are excellent. It is safe to say that you can not go wrong with any of these communities I just named. What you get from those communities is typical quiet suburban living, low crime and friendly people. Shoppings are abundent here anywhere near your subdivision, and you can also drive to centralized commercial strips on Mason Rd and Katy Mills Mall.

If you want to save some money then you can go north of I-10. There are also some nice communities there but you will be neighboring with residents with more variety of income classes. The schools there are good but not as good as south of I-10.

If you want to live in Katy, you need to understand where you will be working. Traffic is horrendous on I-10 to Houston in the morning. If that is not a concern, then I highly recommend you check out Katy. In general schools are bettery, less crime and there are plenty to do here while it is still just 25 miles to downtown.

It is a magical place where cotton candy clouds float through the sky and children have puppy dogs smiles. At least that's what Sean Penn said in Team America: World Police.

Okay, I've got nothin'...
