Everybody IS equal.

It's just that some are more equal than others.

It can be fair , if all work equally . It is not possible unless it is imposed by government ( communism)

All human beings possess a different level of achievement goals and drive .
If someone prepares oneself and works harder , then the rewards will be higher. The opposite will occur for those that are not as motivated.

To impose equal distribution of assets when the effort and work is not distributed equally discourages those that are enthusiastic, driving them to lower their bar.

It is also said that humans motivation is to better oneself and to be better than our neighbor. If such goal is unattainable, then what is the pay off?

If we did not have all the differences amongst us, we would all be equals. It is a subjective term, and what one person is good at, the other may not be. I believe it is never fair to compare, but guess the whole world works by comparison today.

No because in real life we need people to do the "dirty work". If we were all the Oprah's and the Bill Gates', who would sweep the streets or go the school everyday to teach?

Fair is fair, but we can't all be equals.

Universal equality is a myth promoted by politicians in order to get elected/re-elected to office. It has its origins with the devil because Satan knows that it is an issue with humans in which a fight can break out and Satan enjoys being mischievous. We are not all equal on earth and we shall not all be equal in heaven. Jesus clearly teaches this in the parable of the ten talents, where on servant was given 5 talents, one was given four talents and the third servant was given one talent. The wicked servant had his one talent taken from him and it was given to the servant that had five talents. It is not about what is fair, but what God wills.

"Equal" is a relative term. My wife and I are equals. She has her strengths and weaknesses and I have mine. We don't fretter over what they are or try to file petitions to compensate for them. (eg. She's shorter than me so half the furniture in the house has to be adjusted to a smaller size).

Most people who look for "equality" nowadays are looking for a validated hand-out or have some unrealistic notion that seems to resemble cloning. The best form of equality is the mutual respect of each other's differences.

We are all different, so in that sense we are all the same. We are equal in that we are human, but our backgrounds and positions might set us apart in our walks of life. You'd have to break down the walls and barriers of law, society, science, religion, and culture to see that. We are all hard on the outside with a soft chewy middle.

Depends how you define equal.

Is Charles Manson equal to me? Is the drug pusher on the street equal to me? Is the man who beats his wife senseless equal to me? Is the man who sexually molests children equal to me?

No way! And don't you dare try to tell me that they should be.

However, if you take law-abiding, productive members of society who are moral and ethical, then yes, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, etc.... we are equal.
