Usually I am a really talkative and loud person. But, whenever I talk to someone older, like my aunts or uncles, I get butterflies in my stomach. I feel really nervous around them. When they ask me how I am doing they just, all that comes out from me is a sheepish "fine." Why does this happen to me?

You are probably not comfortable around those people and also because they are older you respect them and don't want to offend them by saying anything that you might later regret.

Uhm I believe it is a flight or fight response. You sense a tense time ahead, so your body gets ready to run or fight, both of which will give you funny feelings throughout your body as all the chemicals get released to prepare you for either one. You'll probably notice that after the nervousness passes fully you likely feel happy or sleepy, the counter to the chemicals.

I'm not 100% sure but close.

I don't know I guess you don't see them that offen and maybe thier is something about them that makes you feel insecure yourself. Like I have a similar problem with my aunt and uncle I get shy and nervous around them too, but they are super rich and popular and all that....so I got more intimadated I guess. Just try to relax maybe to breathing exercises before you see them.

You look to them as your adult figures, so when you get around them. You want to be an adult to in there eyes, but your mind starts to give you second thought. So you end up taking the safest way out by saying something childish but it comes out shyly and stupid like.
