I think they should take full responsibility, after all, it's on their word that people thought their products were safe, and they should have made sure it was, which they neglected, it was nobody's fault but theirs that this happened. No matter what happens, you send a product out with your name, you take responsibility for it, not just the good parts. They should be sued if they cannot or won't take accountability for their products. And they have the money to do it, I see no reason why they should not pay out in full for EVERY pet and ALL costs incurred.

I have 5 dogs, and I would be so very upset if this had happened to me!!!!! It is so unfair, but it was just a matter of time since all of our food is getting contaminated with something. Its sick to think these poor animals have been suffering and the owners had no idea. I think the companies should pay every penny to the pet owners and give them extra for the pain and suffering. Most people that love their pets think of them like children. How sad....=(

Legally, they are responsible. I am filing a small claims court case for the amount of my vet bills and lost wages. The law is really on your side. You just have to go about it the right way.
If you are age 18 and over, you can file your own small claims court case. If not, have a parent or gaurdian do it.
Be sure to keep copies of all vet bills, reciepts for costs of replacement food, and a note from your boss if you had to lose time from work, and a copy of your last paycheck stub.
Get the name of the company and the phone number.
Call the company and get the name of the person your need to have served with the paperwork. They will be very nice and accomodating when you mention lawsuit. I know.
I called to get info for mine.

Actually most wet and canned pet foods were forced to switch over to a new gulten supplier ( a main ingrediant in the wet foods) and many researchers believe the gluten from them was actually contaminated-- it's not the companys fault, its the company that SUPPLIED THE GLUTEN's fault, and i think THEY should pay.
