It takes the earth 1.0 years to travel around the sun. It takes Venus 0.615 years to orbit the sun. If the planets are in a straight line with the sun, how long will it be accurate to the nearest hundredth of a year. ( Note: Assume that the orbital planes of all the planets are the same.) ( Don't use units (years) in answer.

How long will it be what? You left out the important part of the question. How long until the next conjunction? If so,

Think of it at 2 runners on a track. If you take 3 min/lap and I take 5 min/lap, in 15 min (LCM of 3 and 5), you'll take 5 laps and I'll take 3. So you'll be 2 laps ahead of me. You'll "lap me" (be 1 lap ahead) in 15/2 = 7.5 min. Note the formula: your lap time is A, mine is B, time for you to be 1 lap ahead is AB/(B-A).

Same with planets, so (1)(0.615) / (1 - 0.615) = 1.5974 ≈ 1.60 years.

Your question makes no sense. How long will it be accurate to the nearest hundreth of a year? What does that have anything to do with it.

I suggest you start actually thinking to see if your questions make any sense before you ask them.

Please, I hate math. This is too much for my brain.........I can't believe I passed the Real Estate test.. Give me something simple like 2+2. I didn't mean to solve a math problem today, wrong catagory. I'll stick to counting my pennies.
