I am moving in with my fiancee in May, I used to be in the property management industry, but that was awhile ago, and I just submitted my application without my SSN and with express instructions they are NOT authorized to run my credit nor have my SSN.
She is the owner of the condo, in Florida (in case that matters), and they do not allow renters, unless they are family members. Once we get married, they can't prevent me from moving in anyway. I am not rushing my wedding and marriage along for them, though.
I got this idea when I was in property management, a guy refused to allow us to run his credit nor get his SSN because the news did an expose on how lax people are with protecting SSNs once they go out of business, they just toss the crap in the trash, wonderful Op Sec!
Anyway, with Bank of America giving out credit cards to illegals or at least people without SSNs, I am making my stand. Question is, can they deny my application?

She owns the condo, I am not applying for a loan, and according to her bylaws she cannot have a renter, and I am not going to be a renter. She has been living there paying all her bills without my help, alone, for three years - so my credit is a non issue.
They got my $150 dollars to process my application and they have received every other bit of information about me except my SSN. Seeing what my friend just went through as an ID theft victim gives me pause to give anyone my SSN. And from being in the business, I know how tentative property management companies keep their accounts.
And as for FL being stricter, that may be true, but since I am not violating their bylaws by renting from her, they have NO reason to run my credit, just do a criminal background.
