I doesn't and can't. The ONLY thing that can diminish the value of anyone's marriage is their own lack of interest, infidelity, abuse, neglect, or arguments over money.
If a couple gets a divorce they have ONLY themselves to look at for answers.
Same-sex marriages would be the same way.
What gets me is the issue is over LEGAL marriages, not the religious ceremony.
These are two separate issues and many of the opponents of same-sex marriage either themselves are guilty of not knowing the difference or are counting on the general public's ignorance of the difference to keep the argument going.

Well, it really all stems from the Biblical belief that homosexuality is a sin, and that marriage is a holy union between a Man and a Woman. I don't care much for religion (in any form), but I still don't like the idea of gay marriage. I don't have anything against homosexuals in their entirety, I just hate the ones you see in the "Gay Pride Parades." Idiots as far as I'm concerned. "Gay and Proud." As if being a homosexual makes you any better than me or any other heterosexual. >.> Anyways feel free to ignore my little rant there. Back to topic: In all reality, gay marriage questions the sanctity of marriage because, according to popular RELIGIOUS belief (especially in America where the majority of people are Christian) homosexuality is a sin, and wrong. Also the belief that marriage is a holy union between a MAN and WOMAN. That's really about it.
Oh, and to all you people who keep making these ridiculous analogies about Britney Spears' marriage(s) and spousal abuse. Stop trying to be martyrs. Anyone can abuse their spouses and have sudden shotgun weddings. It doesn't make a bit of difference if you're a homosexual or not. Stop trying to make it seem like all gay people love their partners and won't get divorces or beat their partners. You and I both know that's a load of crap. >.> Stupid whiny martyrs.

I dont think it would at all. Actually I would want to see what the divorce rate would be if gay people could get married. What diminished the value of marriage is people getting a divorce just because they dont like the person that much instead of working it out and people who run out and get married and then are divorced in 50hrs.

It won't. Only the heterosexuals involved in the marriage diminish it's value.
How might your presence on a radio program diminish said radio program's reputation.

I can't see how it possibly could- it never made any sense to me. Truth to the fact is, many people who feel that way about gay marriage do so because what they've known and valued all their lives is being challenged. We as a nation could learn a lot if people would only stop to learn the truth, with open minds.

It won't diminish anything. The only thing that diminishes the values of marriage are divorce.

It wouldn't diminish the value of heterosexual marriage - it will only diminish it in the minds of homophobics.

No. Heterosexuals have destroyed the values of heterosexual marriage. THat's why their divorce rate is so high. That's why spousal abuse amongst straight couples is so high. WE (homosexuals) have nothing to do with that.

given the divorce rate in this country, it's plain to see that heterosexuals are the ones that have diminishd the value of marrigae based on the archaic conservative definition of the practice.
