i find lots of single,espec obese ,espec females have pets because thats all they can get.they need love etc from a living thing instead of,mechanical means.it really is a sick world,when people love,adore etc pets when there are so many starving people.(incidently who eat our so called pets to survive,ie dogs cats rats etc.).come on a world war or watever to get us back to reality.(notice uk during the wars,very few pets ,espec. dogs).

I think it's very sad that you would begrudge someone having a loving relationship with a pet. If the people in the world were all like you, believe me, there would be no one getting married, living together, having friends, everyone would have a dog or cat to love and wouldn't bother with people at all..
Do you read the news ?? I for one would hate to be in the market for a husband or boyfriend with all the creeps out there, the idiots that are alwaying going to jail, causing trouble, hurting people... abusing kids, I think I would much prefer to snuggle with my dogs and watch tv, than to befriend some of the idiots that are in the world today.
It is a real sick world, people are greedy, they are selfish, they care only about themselves and what is happening in the moment, don't care about the future, what they are doing to the world, other people or anything else.. Who wants to be with those people ???

No! Some people are lonely, men and women, healthy and sick. And pets are a wonderful way to ease loneliness. However, pets are also often parts of families full of love, families with mommies and daddies and children and grandparents, etc.
And having a pet, in no way causes or reduces world hunger.
In fact, people who love animals, are possibly more likely to be charitable at heart and do what they can to help, not only pets,but humans in need.

Most of us really don't care that much about other people that aren't family or friends, and why should we?
People enjoy pets. Period. Your attempt at a stereotype is one I've never heard before--Obese, fat women like pets more than others? Amazing a ******* like yourself can even operate a computer.

while that may be the case, i think that's only certain instances that happens. you know the saying "man's best friend", they are refering to pet dogs. I don't think the sole reason people have pets is to replace human companionship, but if it is, it really doesn't hurt anything. that person has a friend, and that pet has a place to stay.. Whether it's a proper pet relationship or a "human replacement" both parties benefit.

No. I have a husband and kids and friends and family and I have 5 dogs (and fish). I love dogs and they are great companions, but I don't have them so I don't have to deal with humanity. I think your assessment is very off.
I have dogs because I love animals and of all the companion animals out there, dogs return affection quite well.

I am married and have lots of great friends. I have a cat because it's comforting to pet a little purring ball of love. She doesn't talk back, doesn't care what I say to her, doesn't ever judge me, doesn't care what I'm wearing, doesn't care how much money I make, doesn't care what my religion is, doesn't care how smart or talented I am, and doesn't care if my house is clean.

It is a fact that people who care for animals are of good character. They have learned patience and kindness, something this world could use more of. They have had and know love better then most.

It's called unconditional love. Even for people who can get "love" from another human, it's nice to have a pet around who won't argue with you or fight about stupid crap.
