Saw on the BBC website today that another new series of Doctor who (4th of the Russel. T Davis series) has been confirmed for 2008.
According to wikipedia, the Sun newspaper has reported that David Tennant "has also signed for the fourth (2008) series, 'in a £1 million deal', although the same paper has also reported that he will leave halfway through the fourth series."
There is a strong rumour that Michael Sheen who played Tony Blair in "The Deal" will take over from Tennant in the fourth series, and apparently Russel. T Davis has said that he would like Sheen to take the role if and when Tennant quits.
To Monkeyman, regarding the Master - I heard a rumour a while back that John Simm from "Life on Mars" might be playing the Master in season 3. No idea whether its true or not, but not long now till we find out.

Richard O'Brien - what a novel idea. Actually he would be brilliant.
I think Johnny Depp would make an excellent Doctor because he is a very skilled character actor and he could certainly do the manic side of the Doctor.
Another great Doctor would be Christopher Lee, he may be in his 80's but he is still very physically fit. He has a strong voice and is a very great actor. He would also be the perfect choice for The Master (who will return one day I'm sure).
I trust the Doctor Who team 100% and am certain whoever the 11th Doctor is played by they will be great.

Read today that Tennant has signed up for the whole of the 4th series. Don't think Matt Lucas would be good as Dr Who (plus Tom Baker does the voice overs on Little Britain so to much of a link) as I would keep seeing Daffyd or Andy.

The thought of Matt Lucas playing Dr Who is unbearable. I know for a fact that if he did there would be three less viewers in our house. Apparently DT has signed up for series 4, which is fab.

Richard O'Brien is a great idea, what about Dexter Fletcher or Jimmy Carr.

I agree with Tish on it - while some people think hes wonderful I respectfully disagree - I wont be watching.
Why are these actors so scared of getting typecast if they do one or two series you`d think they would be happy for the regular pay check

Hmm:
Hugh Grant - who was once asked apparently!
Richard E Grant - I know they based the cartoon series after him but I wouldn't mind seeing him take it on.

If John Simm doesn't become the master I think he would be brilliant. Sorry Matt!
