The 'screen' is the same. It is the projector that changes. Current technology is to project a very bright light through a peice of film. That means you can only project something that has been converted to film. Digital projection is the process of projecting any electronic image. A DLP or digital projection equipped theater can project TV, video, DVD, PowerPoint slide show or any other electronic image format.
