If you were irregular before ever being on the pill, you would more easily go back that way once you quit the pill. But either way, the change in hormomes can definitely mess with your cycle. If you're not back at what you feel is your normal cycle after 3 or 4 cycles, talk to your doctor.
I personally never had a problem like that, and I was on and off the pill four times before having my tubes tied. I've always been like clockwork. But a lot of women go through what you're talking about, it's probably nothing.

Yes coming off the pill will make you irragular I got off the pill almost 7 months ago and I still dont know what time how long or how heavy my next period will be so the best advice is to carry around a tampon at all times till you see a constant pattern for at least 3 months

Yes - this is very common. The first period you had was your usual breakthrough bleed. It could now take a while for your normal periods to return. It could take anything up to a year even. 80% of women will get a period again within 3 months and 95% within 6 months.
This is because it can take a while for your body to start ovulating again when you come off the pill.

coming off the pill throws your body in shock because it was so used to the estrogen making your body have the same period at the same time, and it takes a couple of months to go back to the way it was before.
mine was irregular (like every 19 days, for 7 days at a time, i know doesn't it suck?) and i got on the depo shot and i had it 28 days after that and i haven't had it since. it's like being pregnant without dealing with the heartburn, and getting fat, and swollen feet, it's great!

First, are you sure you are not pregnant, spotting can occur in early pregnancy.
Yes, you can expect some changes with your period & fertility cycle when you stop the pill. I had similar irregular spotting & irregularity that lasted about ten months. I was hoping I would regulate. But about six months later things started to normalize. I added a good quality women's vitamin with herbs & that might have helped me regulate my periods.
What helped me was getting a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Weschler. It is not just about getting pregnant, but helps you understand your body in relation to your period & everything female. The book come with or without software to track your cycle. Tracking your cycle will help identify patterns you can discuss with your health care provider.

yes it does as when your on the pill it gives you artificially periods that's why there not as heavy so when you come off it automatically causes you to bleed it will take a couple of months for your natural cycle to sort its self out but don't worry it will.
but don't be surprised if your periods now become a ot heavier and more painful.
hope this helps

Yes, your body has been told what to do whilst you were on the pill, and you've taking away its instructions, so now it's got to work it out itself now, it'll take awhile. I too stopped taking the pill recently, and have just had the shortest period ever! Just be patient, it'll get there in it's own time.

When I came off my pill it took 4 months for things to return back to normal. my doctor told me it can be different for every girl. It's a real pain but it will eventually come right.
