Yes, there should be an immediate General Election. Tony Blair was elected by 8 million Labour votes in 2005, Gordon Brown will be elected (if there's a challenger) by 353 Labour MP's, at least 25 Labour Welsh Assembly Members, 45 Labour Members of the Scottish Parliament, 25 Labour Members of the European Parliament and about 150,000 Labour Party members.

Yes, as the Prime minister runs England and not the UK there should be an election as we are just about have an unrepresentative Scot in the top position. what we really need is an English parliament, but we will not get one as the majority of English will vote Tory and an English parliament will probably tell Brown where to get off, Glasgow or Edinburgh, and probably give him the ticket.

I agree with Karen. There is no precedent for a new leader to seek a new mandate, he simply leads the party elected to power. Remeber Wilson/ Callaghan & Thatcher/ Major

No, first there should be street parties through out the land, then a general election straight after. :)

No. I'd rather see the Blairites screw up in parliament for a few more years then bring in a fresh bunch of wannabes, the Cameronians.

I would like to see one, but it won't happen. Gordon will just be relieved to be wearing his slippers in No 10. He will be in no rush to pack his bags and be thrown back into the playing fields of lessor mortals.
