the connection from my Mac to the wireless router goes at 130 Mb , suppose that using Rendezvous aka Bonjour , you're able to connect automatically to nearby laptops ,something like the "Foneros" are doing in Spain, isn't that enough to share unused CPU ?

Theoretically? Possible. Practically? nope. Too much variety of OS and performance, too much overhead in managing the workload across a slow interconnection.

Have a look at Nasa's beowulf clustering... it needs high speed networking (and DSL doesn't cut it as high speed .5 - 2 Mbit download / less upload compared to 100Mbit LAN)... plus you get less and less benefit for each computer you add to the cluster.

Theoretically yes, Realistically no. Do you honestly think everyone out there would install some sort of program on their pc/server/etc to do this?

of course it's possible...as a matter of fact, I am doing it right now and taking control of your computer!
