I really like Reba McEntire, she has been in the biz for a long time and has endured alot, what with her plane full of her crew crashing and killing them all, to a divorce, she is really great.She is happily married, has a great teenage son, a clothing biz,just recently ended a Tv show, and helps other singers to get started and is a mentor, also she helps with getting people new homes that need them, she is a very rounded great person... did I say she can really sing??? lol

My favorite female singer is Stephanie Mills because she had genuine talent at an early age (check her out on youtube)...and for a male singer, I would say Donny hathaway...his voice reflected the kind of soulful sound that gives you chills on the back of your neck...i'm sorry that i didn't choose a more current artist but I don't think that most of them possess the kind of vocal power than you would see in singers from 'back in the day'.
