What can I do to make the pain not hurt so bad? It feels like he is trying to come out sometimes through my stomach and sometimes like he is trying to hide under my ribs.

Oh honey I know how you feel. I am 38 weeks pregnant and my son is the exact same way especially in the evening. What I have found is that if you get up and walk around the house while slowly rubbing your belly the movement soothes him and should get him to fall asleep. If I am ever somewhere where I can't just get up and walk like in the car I would arch my back so that my stomack stuck out. That seemed to give him a little more room to move and aleviate some of the pain. Also monitor what you are eating when he gets overly active. It could be that you are consuming a lot of sugar which is giving him big energy boosts.

I feel you! I'm 31 weeks and am convinced that my little girl is a malicious octopus trained in martial arts. She kicks so hard it takes my breath away sometimes. And she has taken an especially keen interest in a certain spot on my ribs....not much to do about it though...especially the farther along you get and the stronger they are! Each week, she kicks a little harder! Sometimes I yell "GET OFF MOMMY'S RIBS!!!" at my stomach when I get really fed up...lol...but it never seems to help. If I'm sitting I will kind of arch my back and sit up really straight when she gets bad (I think she wants to stretch out)...or if I'm able I will lay down so that I can be completely flat and straight. Sometimes just moving around can knock the baby off balance and make them shift. And lots of times, if you are walking around and moving a lot, it will rock the baby to sleep and you can get a little bit of a break while he takes a nap! :)

Good luck!

My daughter did this also. Sometimes I couldn't eat dinner comfortably because she would be kicking so hard it felt like someone slugging me in the stomach or ribs. There is nothing you can do but take comfort in the fact that you obviously have a very healthy and active baby. There are hundreds of women out there who have lost children that would give a million dollars to feel that reassuring kick. Believe it or not, you will look back at this with fond memories. It's just part of being pregnant.

The best advice I can give is change your position. If you are sitting, try walking around or laying on your left side. Also, try drinking a glass of water as well. Besides that, you just have to deal. I know it seems unfortunate, but it's only temporary. I have the same problem sometimes.

I'm 30 weeks and my baby kicks, but not anywhere painful. Sometimes it becomes uncomfortable, but when I massage the area where he's located, he shifts away a few seconds later. It works every time for me! Good luck!

Try rocking in a rocking chair. This will sometimes settle those little kickers down.

I know it sucks! Try switching positions and rubbing where he is kicking to get him to move.
