It depends on the gift giver. If it's someone who knows what I like, I would prefer the gift, but if it's someone who doesn't really know what I would like to get, I would prefer the gift card. I'm not that picky, but I don't want to end up with something I will never use.

I prefer gifts for giving or receiving. Vouchers or certificates are so impersonal. A gift shows you put some thought and effort into the process.

neither i know it's tacky but i like cold hard cash shopping vouchers are annoying as most store's won't give you the remainder of the money left and most people never buy me the gift's i like so give me money and let me buy what i want.
