would you consider that as 'serving' in the military? Would you be insulted by such a boast if you had served in the military?

As an ex military instructor, I can tell you basic training, as it is called in the real world, not the military world, is way to easy these days. Anyone can pass it. Out of shape mommas boys graduate this course every day. People who have no business in the military can pass those courses. If you can't, that's pretty sad and you'd be nuts to list that on a resume. But people that don't know this will love it. As a veteran, I'd hate anyone that tried to pull that stunt. I almost died while this punk is home telling lies about how good he or she is? Oh boy, they better pray they don't meet me.

I haven't been in that situation but I did hear my daughter's ex saying one time he went through boot camp so I thought yea he's been in the military, only to find out he meant the court ordered boot camp for him to go to because he had been in trouble with the law......

Nope.. couldn't cut the mustard. I woulg give them more credit if they said that they were not able to fulfill their sworn duties, therefore had to leave.
