I want to know the IP address and the location if possible of a person, who is in my buddy list. Is there a way. I had already tried, the GAIM. but it is not working. Pls help me..

i dont think there's a way to find out through yahoo messenger... what you could do is go to www.readnotify.com and sign up there - send a mail to that person's id using the readnotify prescribed method - when he/she opens the mail, you'll get a reply from readnotify giving the ip address and location of the place where that mail was opened

Well, what do you know, 7 years later and Yahoo Messenger is still without a proper bug reporting tool.
This is possible, and is a major security issue. It is being used by hackers to discover someone's IP address and launch Denial of Service attack against him. Here's the exploit website: http://tools.vngoogle.com/
The site gives you a link to a small smiley image, which you paste into your Yahoo chat to the victim. Yahoo Messenger on the victim computer will display the image along with a button to "Start Photo Sharing". The act of retrieving the image compromised the victim's IP address
