I am trying to look up someone who is being released very soon. It's nothing dodgy, more nosiness than anything! I tried to Google the guy but nothing came up. There must be records somewhere??

If you have legitimate concerns, approach the home office or your local police... they are the only people likely to have access to this information in the UK. If it's pure nosiness, you're going to struggle as unlike the US not everything in government is publicly accessible in the UK.

I don't think you can to be honest. The details are protected by the DPA i think. I know a handful of people inside but the only thing you'll ever find is a news report in a local newspaper.

Here in US we can go to the "dept of corrections" website and do an offender look up. we can find out a persons criminal history, identifying scar/ tattoos and most times see a picture... try your dept of corrections or what ever yall call it
