Just wondered if anyone and had something similar and what they're advice/treatment from their GP was...

I came off the pill in Sep 06 and have one period in Nov 06 and nothing since - that's 4 months! I was wondering if I should see my GP, as it's probably just my hormones getting back to normal after the pill, but how long should I wait? Am I right in thinking they can prescribe you progresterone to kick start your period?

Have done HPT and all negative, so am definatley not pregnant (unfortunatley).

I had the same problem. My doc told me it could take up to a year for your body to return to normal after birth control.

Provera Will chemically in duce a period. That's all it would be though. The period would not be ovulation induced, it simply would be a chemical period.

I will also not normally re-establish a regular cycle.

See your doctor however, they may want to chemically induce a period because it has been so long. I was told they would need to induced a period with provera every 3 months if I did not have one naturally.

I am now on clomid which was able to re-establish my cycle.

Good Luck, I wish you the best.

I was never on birth conrtol however i have always had very irregular cycles, it wasn't that bad my periods were in between 3-5 months apart, and then just out of the blue i stopped getting a period all together ( i am only 20) so this was not normal for me what so ever. Anyways i went to my doctor and she did tests such prolactin, thyroid, FSH and LH, piuitary gland, liver/kidney function ect and everythin was perfect. So then she decided to have me do a progesterone challenge 10mg for 7 days of provera to see if that would induce a period and it did, then she suggested i use a natural progesterone cream that you can pick up at a health food store so i did, i used it the last 10 days of my cycle and to my suprise only 3-4 days into using the cream i started my period ( cycle was exactly 28 days)..I used it the last 10 days of my cycle so it wouldn't interupt my ovulation if i was ovulating at all...Anyways again this month i started using the cream and used it the whole 10 days but never started my period i'm 2 weeks late, i have taken 1 preg test which came out negative so i have an appointment the 30th to see what's up...
So their was my experience if you want try talking to your doctor about the natural progesterone cream and he can give you tips on when exactly to take it that would best fit your cycle. Also if you haven't already, I would suggest talking to your doctor about getting the tests i mentioned up above..
good luck!

If you're not nursing or pregnant you should not go more than three months without a period.
The uterine lining is supposed to be renewed otherwise all sorts of things can grow in it, polyps, cysts, growths etc.
so you should go see a doctor.
Progesterone works but it can make you moody and tired (like the pill)
Good Luck.
