Nokia are easy to use, i am not saying other mobile are hard to operate. As you had said most people own the Nokia, so they can be very handy when you need to ask a quick question.
if you would be thinking to use mobile more than making calls than you need to think ahead as many mobile comes with different features, i putting down few of them, might help
camera - Nokia N73, Nokia N90, SonyEricsson K800i
music - Nokia N91(4/8 GB), SonyEricssson W550i,W850i
Wifi Internet - Nokia N80 (good camera too), N91
Good looks - Nokia N80, Nokia N91, SonyEricsson K800i
cheap and good function mobile with good camera is "Nokia N70"
enjoy....

Well, first of all, you must be very sure of what do you want to use a mobile phone for?
If it's for just normal taking calls and SMSing, go ahead to choose any brands at the lowest price, don't have to consider any brands.
If it's for special function like a better camera - Get Samsung or Sony Ericsson. Much better than Nokia.
If it's for user friendly, yeah, a Nokia is pretty user friendly, but nowadays most Handphone brands are customized for users, thus pretty easy to use for all brands, EXCEPT Motorola.
If it's for showing off, go buy PDA phones.
See, different features, different brand. To be frank, Nokia's era is totally over, only 1 out of 10 in developed countries using Nokia nowadays.

Certainly Not.
Nokia has the worst talktime. And features provided are not a match for a Sony Ericsson in the same price category.
Visit wavetelmobiles.com to compare features before deciding.

They have good phones. My current phone is an LG and I like it a lot. Primarily it depends on the service provider rather than the phone. The things I look for in a phone are battery life and quality of reception.
