It doesn't matter how many years you were married, it will still cost you for the divorce. They include attorney's fee and court costs. If the two of you own property, have a joint banking account a separation agreement must be filled out and signed by both parties. Now you are looking at more money

Yes there is, my ex husband and I broke up under bad circumstance due to his cheating, but we did not divorce right away, as we had a period of about 2 years we tryed to be amicable, and work things out for the sake of our children, which we succeeded on that one(as far as the children), and who knows maybe reconcile, there was a very small small chance of it, at the end of it all we divorced on irreconcilable differences, it cost about 200 dollars then, we went in together and we filled out the paperwork, the judge was stunned at how friendly we were to each other, he said he would pay for our counseling. I laughed and said no thanks, this was a free divorce for both of us, his girlfriend at the time picked up the tab. He met a girl that really wanted him to be divorced, and she offered to pay for the divorce(imagine that).

If you want the divorce to be legal ..you will have to pay the court cost. You can go to the court house library and get the papers and fill them out (both of you together) and just pay the filing cost. Usually the cost is around $200 but it just depends what state you live in.

It's called,"A simple dissolution of marriage".
Go to your Courthouse and obtain the forms, for a couple bucks..
If you both agree on all debts and division of assets, and tax liabilities, complete the form, return it to the Courthouse, pay a small fee for filing. It will go to a judge and in approximately 30 days or so, you both will receive by mail the finalized divorce papers.
No court appearance, simple and cheap.
Been there, done that.

It's possible, I guess, but a divorce is a legal proceeding, and I wouldn't do anything like that without the guidance of an attorney. You both should really have lawyers, just to make sure that things go smoothly.

Yes, you can do the paperwork yourselves. However, if their is property that needs divided and is not agreed how to split, (cash, real estate, furniture, debt etc) then you will need the assistance of an attorney.
