When I was looking at a childminder for my daughter they ranged from about £5-£8 an hour that they charge. It doesn't sound loads but then multiply that by the number of kids they are looking after - and that often they ask you to book a space that you have to pay for as well, even if your child is ill or at home for the day and it's good money. Nurseries where I live charge anything from £700 - £1100 per month full time.

Depends where you live - mine charges £4 an hour in Edinburgh, but when I lived in Fife it was only £3 an hour
