I recently visited a convalescent home and was shocked to see how nice it is. I could not believe the services provided, the fun events taking place among the patients and the meals. Pillows fluffed, water fetched, slippers put on your feet - all by the nurses at the push of a button.

This seems like just the thing I need. I plan to pay out of pocket & stay at least 2 months. I went to my doctor for the appropriate arrangements and at 1st he did not understand what I was asking. Once he understood, he became angry and stated something along the line of "I will not associated with sending a 32 year old man to a convalescent home". So he is definitely not going to help me.

Looks like I have do it myself. Before I do, I'd like to know - is there any difference in rates with weeks vs. months? Even a discount as I'm 32 - my back hurts and I can't run like I used to but the nurses will not need to help me to the same degree as the older residents.

Help - please?

I needed physical and occupational therapy for three months . They put me in a nursing home because I couldn't walk and I had no one at home to take care of me. I was 50 years old. It was called a health and rehabilitation center but it was a nursing home. One of the best in the world I might add. Anyway. I don't care how nice it was I DID NOT want to be there !!!!!!!! Why on earth would you want to do that. It might seem like a good place to be for a couple of days but in the long run it is depressing. Just go to a hotel and order room service why don't you? Leave the nursing homes for people who really need care !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get a life !!!!!!

Get a deal with a cruise line or several cruise lines. For approximately $100 a day you can live on ocean liners if you get their specials. You have to get on and off the ships ever 3-4-7 days, but go directly to the line where the next ship is boarding.

8 meals a day, cabin cleaned twice a day, new people coming on and off (and most of them can even walk alone). All the ships have swimming pools.
When you die, you can save the cost of a funeral by them dumping you overboard.
This is a bargain compared to a nursing home.
Oh, if you fall and break something, their insurance will pay for a nursing home until you are well enough to get back on the ship.

Happy life.

Let me get this straight, your 32 and you want to go into a home where a nurse can take care of you - becuase your suffering from back pain?

Maybe you should try a chiropractor - and some acupuncture -or even muscle relaxers. I'm sorry - I have to agree with your doctor - there are other alternatives for you.

Good Luck.

It sounds to me like what you prefer is a visit to a luxury hotel. Which a convelescent abode isn't: that is for those that've been ill and prefer help getting properly. i won't be able to blame the checklist for identifying to purchase offended. Why do not you're taking the money which you fairly prefer to spend on that convelescent abode and take that luxury trip instead?

Partner, you are only 32? Honestly, I think you might find a mental health facility to rest in. Your problem goes deeper than just a sore back. Get Help. How much do you weigh?

It sounds like it would be more appropriate for you to hire a servant in your home. Convalescent homes probably would not even allow you to become a resident because it doesn't sound like you have medical need.
