A lot better than a white page with scrawly handwriting on it, so it matters

My CDs are loaded into CD players that hold 110 CDs each. All the CD covers are in a box in the shed never to be seen again until they head for the dump. The way technology keeps moving, I expect I will have 100 times as much music storage in one tenth the space in 10 tears. Thumbs down on the cover art

Not very important but photos can be a big plus in how the cover looks. I don't keep the covers out though. I put the cds into storage sleeves and into a box, and the covers go into a big plastic tote box tucked away out of sight in a closet. So the cds are handy but take up a lot less room. I do the same with dvds.

I think cover art is unfortuanely becoming a "lost art" in the music industry. I like having tangible music products, and an album's cover art is an essential part of the product for me. It just rounds out the feeling, whereas MP3s are cold and sterile in comparison.

Nowhere near as important as the music! Some covers can be really cool, but if I like the music, I'll still buy it no matter what the cover looks like!

First of all, it helps me identify the CD. Secondly, when buying a CD, it gives me an idea of what the music will be like. If the picture is hellish, the music probably will be, too.

I really don't care whats on the cover really, I hardly ever look at it. However, growing up, I had a really strict mom and if there was something gross or like bloody on it, she wouldn't let me get it. So back then it mattered, but not anymore.
