I thought that was crazy. Totally singling out this guy which I thought was really lame considering it would have made national news if it were the other way around ("blackboy")
I'm going to agree with the whites on this one. These double standards need to stop.

Soulflo-First of all, I'm black. Maybe you didn't think so because I felt it was something wrong with this, which only leads me to believe that many blacks do, in fact, feel they should be able to openly call out a person's race, but not the other way around. I'm married to a white man so that may have something to do with some of my views. He and I both watch the show and like it, but we both said the "whiteboy" thing was definitely a double standard.

Josh-I agree with you. His sister came on and was completely different. I guess I could have stuck up for him if his entire family was walking around walking and talking like that because that would just mean he's a product of his environment. But I think he's not from that lifestyle either. But he was OK but it did look like he was trying a bit to hard to have that "thuggish" appeal.

I've seen a couple episodes of that, but to tell you the truth, I didn't think twice about the "whiteboy" thing. Why? Well, first off, "whiteboy" is pretty mild as a slur, but the biggest reason is that society is becoming numb to this phenomenon, and it is becoming the norm.
What I think is more pathetic is that this guy's mind has been stirred by the race relations and politics in this country SO MUCH, that he thinks, acts, talks, dresses, and wants to be black. You can tell in his dialect that he's trying so hard. His manerisms suggest that he's given up, and is under control by the MTV(or VH1) media genre which is all about Hip Hop culture. I think deep down inside, he wants to win this contest for acceptance as a contender in a black man's world. If he loses, he is destined for a nervous breakdown. You can see the desperation in his eyes. Can anyone say, identity crisis?

I have never seen the show, but to me it seems like a double standard in our society. If someone is emphasizing someone else's race as a way of identification, then they are essentially being a racist.
I agree with you. Two wrongs do not make a right. And if it was the other way around, there would have been a huge media issue about this. I guess that is part of the problem of society, people do not want to be identified as racist, but they cannot think of anything else to use to describe someone.
I agree with you these double standards do need to stop.

I will totally agree with you that calling him whiteboy is wrong. Tiffany Pollard is highly ignorant and I am sure you agree but no more ignorant than Paris Hilton. It is common knowledge she uses the N word all the time. You would not agree she was ignorant though.
No calling someone "blackboy" would not be national news these days.
it is wrong, but they get away with it for the same reason television gets away with having a man on Dr. Phil say he was even more hurt his wife was dating a Black man.
And also on his show a woman said something very derogatory about blacks, concerning her step daughter.
Have you ever watched the shield? They use every racial slur in the book...
The Sopranos have called people n***as and moulies, etc.
Any of the conservative news shows (especially the CSpan people) are forever talking about black people in a derogatory manner.
People went beserk when Mel Gibson insulted a cop over his religion and when Isaiah Washington insulted another actor over his sexual orientation.
But nobody said anything when Michael Richards called out those people in a nightclub.
No one should attack anyone with personal (strawman) attacks. But no one said anything.
People like you are only concerned with racism toward white people, and you ignore the racism that STILL exists toward black people.
All racist terms need to be eliminated, not just the ones toward your people.

I thought I was the only one who thought that. Your right if it was a white women who was on the show and a black man had the name blackboy it would be a big deal. If it is wrong make it completely wrong. Dont just have it so a certain race can do it.

New York is very "ghetto" acting. But as soon as someone says something about her, she goes off. (the remark about being a little black girl.) Yet, she says the N word all the time.
They all drink too much and Whiteboy is a wannabe, he said he wasn't white, his sister sure looked white to me. I'm glad he was eliminated.

I totally agree. She almost blew a gasket when the Hispanic guy called her "Negrita" (as a term of endearment), which means "little dark girl". She almost kicked him off the show, but then again she's allowed to nickname someone White Boy.

There are other white guys, or rather there "were" other white guys on the show who had other names. I don't see anything wrong with it, and I would feel the same if she would have named someone "blackboy".
