I am having my first facial this afternoon. I have been seeing the same esthetician for waxing and heard she is great at facials. I am just wondering what to expect. Do I need to do anything before I go?

Just don't get a facial 2 weeks before a major event...facials bring the impurities to the surface so expect to have some breakouts - it is normal.

Facials can be very relaxing. It all depends on your skin type and what type of facial you are receiving. I agree with the other person, do NOT get a facial before a big event. Alot of times, people have a "ton" of redness after a facial. Again it goes back to your skin type.

I went from never getting a facial to getting them every two months but I have dry skin.

With facials usually the prep the skin and cleanse it. Then they massage your face (my fave part--less if you have oily skin more with dry skin at my facialist spot), steam your face to open pores and prep you for the extraction process. I am not going to mince my words---this is the most hated part. It hurts they take out all the black heads, white heads and it is not comfortable at all. Afterwards they put on some moisturizing or other masks for your skin type dim the lights and you relax. (I usually doze off).

At the end they clean up the mask and then moisturize and you are ready to go. Don't forget to type 10-15% of course more if you think they did a great job.

***You can ask your facialist if there is extraction, if there is none, they it is a very relaxing experience. But if you have extraction, your face will look more clearer and moisturized. Be careful and aware if you have sensitive skin or allergies tell your facialist in advance!!!!

Don't wear any make up for at least 24 hours after. It's normal to breakout a week or so after a facial. Just enjoy it, theyre very relaxing...except when they do extractions *ouch*

I was totally going to reference a vulgar innuendo, but I won't. Enjoy your time.
