not sure if it counts as a gap year but in some colleges, if you didn't get in first time they let you go into 2nd year if you did a one year course in a different college.

A gap year is a year out of education, usually spent travelling or working or volunteering.

If the art foundation course is related to the degree, then it is not a gap year.

If it's just to unwind a little before going into something like biology or law, you might call it a gap year... but because it's education related I'm not sure.

If it were spent abroad or were something really non-traditional, I'd count it. Otherwise, I'd put it down as education.

No, as you will be in full time education doing the course. But I found my foundation course very interesting - if only to discover which arts I didn't want to do.
Good luck on the course!

if your doing a foundation course say in the university that you wish to do your degree in then no...

it will basically work out like a degree with an extra year... when you enroll for your foundation year you will be enrolling on "year 0 of a 3 year degree" so you'll do year of foundation then go straight into your 3 year degree....

hope that makes sense
