I am going to assume you mean that you have been trying for 22 days to get your newborn to begin breast feeding. If she is indeed 22 days old, she is not likely to have any teeth so she can not bite you. With a proper latch-on, her tongue should be positioned against the underside of your nipple. Neither your nipple nor your areola should be visible with a proper latch-on. If she has been improperly nursing for this long, your nipples are likely sore and when she sucks, it may feel like biting. It is not uncommon for breast feeding babies and moms to take as long as 6-8 weeks to finally begin to feel like they both know what they are doing. Call the hospital you gave birth at. See if they have a lactation consultant you can talk to. Most hospitals do have one on staff. You will likely be able to make an appointment for her to come to you home or you'll go to her office where she can observe for proper latch-on and give tips and advice. Additionally, if your baby has been regularly drinking from a bottle or using a pacifier, she may just need some more practice learning how to nurse properly. Keep on working at it and she will get the hang of it. Good for you for not giving up.

She might be latching on improperly. Make sure that her mouth is open very wide before letting her latch on. Are you saying that she has not been nursing for the last 22 days? Is she only about a month old? If she has been on a bottle all this time, she might have nipple confusion- it takes a different technique to nurse than it does to suck on a bottle. Keep trying and make sure that her mouth is open wide.

Lanolin will help dry or sore nipples...I am assuming your baby is 22 days old, so I would make sure you are getting baby latched on far enough back...if enough is in baby's mouth, she should not be able to bite your nipple...flatten your areola area with your fingers and get as much in her mouth as possible

properly you should use a breast pump to launch milk from the ultimate breast to alleviate tension and shop your milk grant up. Then shop working with the baby to take the ultimate breast. permit him start up on the left part if he's extra soft, then as quickly as he's not ravenous and extra comfortable swap him to the ultimate. while he's extra sleepy and not overly hungry he's probable to make much less fuss once you turn aspects. whether, you could purely feed off the only part, ultimately the milk interior the ultimate part will dry up. To get interior the direction of the soreness of engorgement you should use ice packs, warm compresses and take some advil for the soreness. whether till now you permit the availability dry out on that part i might propose shop attempting to get infant to eat off the two aspects. he's purely one week previous, he has a lot of time to income! installation solid breastfeeding takes 4-6 weeks!

Frankly, this sounds like 'latch on pain' to me...normally this would happen in the first week or so that baby is nursing m, but since you mentioned she has been getting bottles...i guess it was delayed...i know it hurst, but all i can tell you is it will go away...probably with a week or two....hang in there...there is nothing that will help it....

Make sure your baby's mouth is open wide enough to latch onto the full areola. Also, give nipple shields a go.

no nipple guards they interfere with breastfeeding and can cause poor milk supply....my little ones does this just last night i had to stick my finger in his mouth to pry him off my nipple as he bit down a shook it like a dog toy...express a little milk to get let down goin then quick pop her on she'll be too busy keeping up with the flow to bite...once shes a little older u can pop her off after she bites for a min to let her know biting=no boob... they catch on quick also letting out a good ol yelp kinda startles them and can make them stop (that did backfire for one of my children tho...he thought it was funny and would bite and laugh at me as i let out a big screech)....don't worry it won't last forever heheh wait until u get bit with teeth that's a invigorating experience lol

for the pain express some bm and rub it into your areola. works better than lanolin and is natural. she's probably adjusting to the slow flow of the breast rather than what shes used to from the bottle. you're doing a great thing.. keep at it, it does get better.

well, the thing of it is is that b/c your boobs are so squishy, and especially since you've had problems, the baby will try to latch on in any way and stay on, even if it means biting...

i used a nipple shield...you can get them at babies r us...it helps to guard your nipples from biting...it's plastic, so the baby doesn't have to bite so hard to stay on...trust me, it was the best thing i ever used...also helped dull the pain...
