A good place to start with your questions is with a Doctor at Planned Parenthood.

Birth control choice involves alot more than just your age and how many kids you already have. It also involves your overall health and what type of relationship(s) you are involved in.

You and your doctor have to be able to compare the benefits of any method of birth control to any risks that are involved. The birth control method also has to fit into your lifestyle.

IUDs are not without risk. Pills are not without risk. Both are effective birth control when given to the right patient.

IUDs are good for women who don't wan't children in the next several years, are in a long-term monogamous relationship, and don't have a history of pelvic infection... essentially healthy older women in established relationships.

Planned Parenthood is a good place to start. Make an appointment to talk with a Doctor. I don't trust the information that the nurses give.

There are all kinds of "Good" birth control. I was Loestrin for years and loved it. Yasmin is another good one. Talk with your doctor about what birth control is best for you and your doctor should be able to give you a ball park figure on the cost.

Second, I'm not sure if you have any family planning clinics or any clinics period in your area. But if you do, most places go by your income for the cost of your birth control. Try checking with your doctor on these clinics or the phone book. If you have no clinics in your area, call the different pharmacies to find out how much the prescribed birth control is going to be. I hope this helps.

Try IUD. I love mine- no hassle at all, and you're protected up to 10 years (with Mirena, up to 5). My insurance covered mine, but prices usually vary from 200 to 700. If you spread that over 10 years, it is the cheapest birth control.
Planned Parenthood charges on a sliding scale, so you might be able to get for less

go for a copper IUD (they last 10 years and are quite affordable) for extra protection use condoms when possible. If you're uncomfy with the pill cause of past experience you probably don't want to go with the patch or the ring either since they work the same way, but you may be interested in Depo. discuss it with you doc for sure befor eyou decide anything. good luck!

I have the Mirena IUD and love it. It was costly but well worth it. It is good for 5 years and you don't have to worry about it like the pill.
