What Ho fellow minstrels ..........
Well, I play keyboard & electic guitar in an very amateur Rock band type thing.now & then.
The drummer boy always pitches up with a Transit van full of gear, too many beers inside him, and on one occassion, a lack of drum-sticks.
There is a small machine available, which plugs into the PA, keeps perfect time, does all the twiddly bits at the stab of a foot pedal, so I feel that the percussion department is destined for a new start somewhere else.
If you are a goodly drummer, then my apologies to you, but.
what do you reckon ?

Cheers,
Bob.

If you want to start taking things seriously then let the drummer know. You cant get anywhere with him being unreliable.

Take a look for the band Starscream. They are pretty good and use a drum machine.

Carter USM also used a drum machine for some time as they could not find a drummer who could play what they wanted.

Get rid of him he might not turn up one night when you are waiting for him if he drinks, but i would go for another drummer rather than a machine, a machine will keep tempo if you are playing the same all the way through a number but if you need to slow the tempo and speed up again in the music you are playing the machine cannot do that and you might forget to use the foot pedal

You've missed a major point there - 'the drummer boy always pitches up with a transit van...'

There's a rarety, a drummer with his own transport. Can you do without the van? If so, go with the drum machine.

A drummer is the heart of the band in terms of rhythm, think you just need a new drummer

Sack the Drummer. Your band will look better without one than with a tipsy one playing with no sticks.
