South Africa, is the 9th largest country in the world, and it uses a common time throughout the country.
Theorectically it should have more than one time zone.

The chinese must take strain as the difference is 6 hours from one end of the country to the next. Someone eating breakfast will be in the dark and someone else in broad daylight.

New Zealand's boundaries fall within one time zone.

Because the time zones are so subjective anyway, I would have to say that the answer is China. Take a look at this map: http://www.tylersterritory.com/computer/images/World-TimeZones-2001.jpg

Some of the countries in Africa might be eligible to be the biggest in one time zone, but it's hard because the time zones aren't straight lines anyway.

China is the largest country which follows a single timezone. Being the 3rd largest country in the world after Russia and Canada (both follow timezone differences),
Also, this is in the list of countries where the timezones were used in oldern days but now now.
Thanks!
