It's the result of the political process. Shiites are the majority of the population. When they vote, they obviously will win. That's why there is a system in place so that Kurds and Sunnis can also have a say in the coalition government.
I would venture to say that, as this process goes forward, there will be changes based on politics and less on religion.
The big issue to contend with is to create a sense of nationalism in Iraq among all sects. Right now, Shiites are closely tied to Iran. Iran seems to rule the Shiites when in reality, the Iraqi Shiites should be ruling the Iranian Shiites since the two most sacred places in all of Shia are in Najaf and Karbala.

I suppose you feel that the Sunni Arab immigrants and insurgents should be running the country instead of the majority of the populace. The second largest populace in Iraq are the Kurds. The current govornment is comprised of representatives from all of Iraqs religious and ethnic factions.
Conservative, Republican, Democrat, Liberal, Libertarian, or Independent are all American political labels and have nothing to do with Iraq except for the fact that those labels can be used to identify the political affiliation of most of our soldiers fighting in Iraq.
This question shows your complete ignorance on the subject.

Why shouldn't they be allowed to control most of Iraq? There are more of them than any other group.
Maybe you would like to see the conservatives control Congress? But wait! Aren't there more Democrats in Congress than Republicans?
Let me see if I've got this right. YOU want the Sunni or Kurds to control most of Iraq even though both of them are minorities? Or maybe you and us to control most of Iraq? *LOL* And you claim conservatives are imperialists?

"Conservatives" are not generals on the field and deciding who get the power in Iraq. They are american people who go about their daily lives and work for a living.
Your question (or Statement) is flawed.
Besides, there are twice as many Shiiates in Iraq than Sunnis. With everyone getting the government positions they deserve, it's only democratic that they get more power.

This is one of the administration many blunders. They have increased the political and military influence of Iran in this region.
So while the Bush apologists are screaming they are safer, just remember that because of Bush's actions Iran is now a major player in that area of the world and we have to deal with them on that basis.
