uk ones i got told they have 18 leg's any one now for sure.

Centipedes have 100 legs. The prefix cent- means one hundred. See the ped- in the word centePEDes. Ped means foot or child. In this case it means foot. So you can remember that Centipedes have cent-100 feet-ped.

Centipedes have between 15 and 173 segments (not sure how they get the maximum, but thats a lot!)

Each segment has one pair of legs.

Therefore they can have between 30 and 346 legs - depending on the number of segments they have.

Though their name means 'hundred legged' (or something like that) - they usually are found with about half that, though from the above details, they can also have much more than that.

Millipedes have two pair of legs per segment, and are found with 20-100+ segments. This means normally they are found with 80-400 legs. Rare cases have been found with over 750 legs though not the 1000-legs that their name implies.

Centipedes have between 50 and 80 legs. Millipedes have up to 150.
