I finish most of my books in 24 hours, max is 2 days. I'm a fast-ish reader, and once I start, I don't really put down, only for toilet break. My first novel I can remember reading and finishing it in one day is Indian in the Cupboard. I prefer long books for some reason. Not that into short stories or novellas. I don't really have time to read anymore :(
Some fav books are Pride and Prejudice, Gone With the Wind, Memoirs of Geisha, Girl With A Pearl Earring, Orson Scott Card books.

Actually I did. It was the latest Harry Potter. Had it delivered at around 1 in the morning (the bookstore had that on as a special when the book was released) and read through the whole 1000 pages in 5 hours. Just couldn't put it down!

Lodas, some already mentioned here actually!
All the harry potter books were read in one day (each not the whole set in one day!)
Dangerous Lady, Mauras Game and the Runaway all by Martina Cole. Love her books so much as soon as i read them I started reading them again.
Tell me your Dreams by Sydney Sheldon.
Shopoholic books by Sophie Kinsella (again one at a time, not all in one go).
Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce (I think I averaged two books a day on these ones but they are teen books).

There is nothing better in summer than sitting in the garden on a sun lounger with the I-pod on and a fantastic book!

Salman Rushdie's 'The Moor's Last Stand'. Firstly, I devour Salman Rushdie's books, secondly it was a very long day, starting at 6.30 CET and ending at 9.0 p.m. Peru time, thirdly, no smoking on flights.

I seem to remember reading a book entitled Coma, which I picked up at the airport in Orlando, Florida. The flight to Miami was delayed, so I had plenty of reading time. The book didn't grab me, but it took my mind off the polystyrene coffee cups . I think the author was Stephen King

Quite a few of them, actually! Here is a list of some that I can remember:
1) "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" by J.K. Rowling
2) "The Five People you Meet in Heaven" by Mitch Albom
3) "I'll Paint A Sun" by A.J. Garrotto
4) "Writing Down the Bones" by Natalie Goldberg
5) "The Automatic Millionaire" by David Bach
6) "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach
7) "Beloved Infidel" by Dean Young

I couldn't put any of these books down once I picked them up, which to me is a sign of a talented author!

My first "cover to cover" was Where the Red Fern Grows, then Of Mice and Men and The Pony... I also read Jonathan Livingston Seagull in one day, and DaVinci Code. Mostly shorter works, though...I read slow because I read for pleasure, but some works were just written to be read in one sitting, don't you think?

Yes, many times. The most memorable one was the day I received "New Moon" by Stephenie Meyer in the mail. I work all day and don't get home until the evening. I opened the box and started reading the book immediately and never put it down until I finished about 1:00 a.m. I was even reading it while I was making supper for my family (stirring with one hand, reading with the other LOL)

Never in one day, but one night - lots.
I normally read in bed, and often finish the book around dawn if it's good. Sometimes cover to cover.
The last one was 'Life of Pi'.
Before that can't really remember, I read all the time, and re-read the good stuff constantly. So it becomes a melded blur.

Phoenix Tales: Stories of Death and Life, by Gregory Banks. Read it while travelling by bus from New Jersey to Columbus, OH. I finished it just as we pulled into the town, and didn't event realize the trip was over already!

Usually, though, it takes me about three to five days to read a book, depending on what else I am doing.

Yup! It's a very good way of distracting yourself, and you get to scare the crap out of other people doing it. *laughs*

Most Terry Pratchett Discoworld novels I read cover to cover in a single day, or two in one go. Neil Gaiman novels, Ursula K Le Guin's shorter novels (The Lathe of Heaven), young adults' books are especially easy to digest (the earlier Harry Potter books, books by Eoin Colfer, Abhorsen, Sabriel)...

Anything that, um, isn't a textbook, really...
