Marriage, well a mate has to be a good listener and one who does not judge you. Men and women are different and I think that is why we are attracted to each other. We draw strength from each other and we are supposed to be balance. Look around, most successful marriages have balance. One person is probably high strung while the other is laid back, or, one person is a miser while the other likes to spend money, one person may be a disciplinarian while the other does not like to discipline, one person likes conflict and is mouthy and the other is not. Anyway, you see the pattern and if you check, you will find that what I say is true. As far as getting angry, at certain times, just about anything can make you angry. Being together all the time you become complacent and you let little things bother you. That is why both parties in the marriage need some "me" time every now and then and time apart with friends or solitude. Having an open mind and a loving heart will make any marriage work and it will make it strong. If all of this is in tune, your sex life and intimacy will be extremely good!

The best of marriages are where the spouses are actually and really best friends as well as lovers. I expect my husband to always be responsible. The only time he makes me angry is when he loses his temper over trivial things which he doesn't often do, but on occasion. And that is all that I would want him to change. The best thing he does is that is so helpful around the house. If I don't feel like cooking; he does. He picks up after himself and cleans house and does all the gardening. He's just a Type A personality and he has to be moving. It makes it nice. A lot gets done and I don't have to do one fourth of it.

First of all, thinking of your spouse as your other half is a bad place to be. You each are whole persons. The ideal marriage can be simply expressed as an equation:

Instead of 1/2 + 1/2 = 1

It should be 1 + 1 > 2

An ideal marriage is two people who support and encourage each other to be a better person than they would be alone. Together, they are both better, happier people.

A good marriage is commitment from BOTH parties to work stuff out. Give and take from BOTH sides, not just one. No marriage is perfect, and to be honest, there are times I literally cannot stand to be in the same room with my Husband, but I still love him and know that this will pass. It gets better with time. But know that going into a marriage, it will require work from both sides.

Despite what the poets will tell you, love alone will not carry the mail.

Respect, consideration and compatibility are essential.

Basically, approach marriage this way: People will tell you that it's 50:50. Ignore that. It's 55:45, and if both parties behave that the extra 10% is their responsibility, then you're always looking out for the other person.

It has to be that way.

I would like my husband to be honest.I expect him to be honest. It makes me angry that he is not honest. My marriage would be stronger if he were honest. He gives me foot rubs for no reason.....well he 'says' it's for no reason.....!!
When we were married the celebrant gave us these wise words;

The 4 T's-
1.Time-Spend quality time together doing things you each enjoy
2.Talk-communication will stop any problems before they start
3.Touch-Hold hands when walking down the street, snuggle in bed and kiss before walking out the door
4.Trust-Keep your promises and be truthful, don't do things that you wouldn't like your partner to be doing.

I think my husband nodded off after number 3....

No marriage is perfect. There will be up's and down's.The important thing is to remember .....each other.

Wow, huge question. Piece by piece....have no expectations other than of yourself. Angry? More disappointed that sometimes he doesn't do what he says he will. I don't want to be his mother by reminding him. I wouldn't change a thing. Really. Best thing he does is surprise me with things...flowers, plants, grocery shopping, doing the dishes, running me a bath. Makes me feel cherished.

The best example of a great marriage is Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. I love Ozzy and think he's the greatest and I've just read Sharon's book. Even with all the sh!t they've done to each other, had done to them or otherwise, they love each other unconditionally. I don't think it gets better than that.

Mine. 18 yrs & still in love. we love Jesus and He is the center of our marriage. We follow God's plan for our marriage. Check it out, 1Corinthians 13 - the love chapter. God spells out how we are supposed to love one another and in Ephesians 5-6, tells us what our roles are. He wants us to have the best marriage ever, He created it - He gave us one another, sex, laughter, etc. - it can be soooooo good! Check it out, what do you have to lose? You have everything to gain! Have a great weekend! ")
